Finally our team of heroes are working together, although it is just to fight a bunch of personality free Parademons. Wonder Woman makes her first appearance in a beautiful full page splash. I very much like the way Wonder Woman is portrayed in this issue, although we know it won’t last, since she is not like this in her own title (remember Justice League is set in the past). In this book, Diana is not long off of Paradise Island. She hasn’t yet adjusted to the culture. She’s a warrior and it appears the government has been keeping her cooped up. She’s spoiling for a fight and an army of parademons is just enough to satiate her.
One interesting thing about this issue is how many DC supporting characters are making their first appearances in the DCnU in this issue. The first page brings us Steve Trevor and Orr. Later in the issue are Professor Ivo and T.O. Morrow.
The story is pretty light – half of it is the heroes brawling with parademons and half of it is Dr. Stone trying to save his son, Victor. There is an interesting twist in Cyborg’s origin. Jim Lee is most certainly the star of this issue – every page is beautifully rendered.
